BROOKLYN, N.Y., Sept. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- HEVO Inc., a New York-based leading developer and Tier 1 supplier of patented Rezonant™ wireless charging hardware and the Journey™ software platform, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted U.S. Patent No. 12,703,258 B2, "Systems and Mobile Application for Electric Wireless Charging Stations." The patent expands HEVO's intellectual property portfolio with coverage directed toward networked wireless charging infrastructure, vehicle connectivity and software-enabled charging management capabilities.
The newly granted patent covers a wireless charging network in which charging stations, location-enabled vehicles and a centralized server communicate to intelligently identify, select and manage wireless charging sessions. The patented system enables vehicles to request wireless charging services while a server evaluates charging station availability, operating condition, occupancy status and geographic proximity to recommend and coordinate charging activities.
The patent further covers functionality that enables charging stations and vehicles to communicate occupancy changes, reservation status and operating conditions across a connected network. The invention also includes safety-focused features such as foreign object detection and the automatic discontinuation of wireless power transfer when an object is detected near a charging session, helping improve operational reliability and user safety.
Additional covered capabilities include charging station discovery, reservations, vehicle positioning assistance, charging session management, occupancy notifications and real-time communication between charging infrastructure and vehicles. The patented system supports intelligent charging station selection based on availability, operational status and vehicle location, creating a connected ecosystem designed to improve the charging experience for both passenger and commercial vehicles.
"These patent awards represent the evolution of HEVO's vision for wireless charging," said Jeremy McCool, Founder and CEO of HEVO. "From intelligent charging networks that connect vehicles, infrastructure and software to dynamic roadway systems that deliver power while vehicles are in motion, we are building the technological foundation for the next generation of electric and autonomous transportation. We believe the future is a fully connected mobility and energy ecosystem where vehicles, charging infrastructure, distributed energy resources and the electric grid communicate and operate as a unified platform. Our technologies are designed to support bidirectional energy flow, vehicle-to-grid services, resilient microgrids and autonomous vehicle operations, helping ensure that future transportation networks are not only emissions-free, but intelligent, adaptive and energy positive. Together, these patents reinforce HEVO's leadership in wireless charging innovation and strengthen our ability to support fleets, OEMs, utilities, infrastructure operators and autonomous mobility platforms worldwide."
Expanding HEVO's Wireless Charging Patent Portfolio
The issuance of U.S. Patent No. 12,703,258 B2 follows the recent award of U.S. Patent No. 12,700,758 B2, "Systems and Methods for Dynamic Roadway Charging," further expanding HEVO's intellectual property portfolio across both stationary and in-motion wireless charging technologies. The dynamic roadway charging patent covers systems that enable electric vehicles to receive wireless power while traveling along roadways equipped with embedded charging infrastructure. Key aspects of the patented technology include continuous wireless power transfer, wireless energy exchange between adjacent charging segments and bidirectional energy flow capabilities that support vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-infrastructure applications. Together, these patents establish protection across critical components of the wireless charging ecosystem. The recently awarded network management patent focuses on software, communications, vehicle connectivity and charging infrastructure orchestration, while the dynamic roadway charging patent addresses the delivery of wireless power to vehicles in motion. Combined, the technologies support HEVO's long-term vision for seamless charging experiences that reduce operational complexity, increase vehicle uptime and accelerate the adoption of electric, connected and autonomous transportation.
The award of U.S. Patent No. 12,703,258 B2 also represents a significant milestone for HEVO's intellectual property strategy. Earlier patents in the family were primarily directed toward structural and hardware aspects of wireless charging stations. This latest patent extends protection to intelligent charging network management capabilities that enable vehicles, charging infrastructure and software platforms to work together as a unified system.
As transportation systems become increasingly connected, electric and autonomous, HEVO believes wireless power transfer will play a foundational role in enabling automated depot operations, autonomous vehicle charging, intelligent fleet management, vehicle-to-grid services, distributed energy integration and future roadway electrification infrastructure.
