Single women are shunning toy-boys for men with experience and are hunting out divorced men to date - according to ThePicnicProject.com
The findings, from matchmaking service, reveal that of the 5.5 million currently single women in Great Britain, more than half a million would rather date a mature divorced man than someone younger than them.[1]
But it's not just older women looking to date mature men with baggage - more than 349,000 are aged 25-34 and a further 310,000 aged 18-24.
These 'Pumas' - so called because they're interested in dating Previously Married and Attractive men - hail a new trend in women seeking experience over youth, unlike 'cougars' who are known for pursuing younger men.
And it would seem now is open season for the 48,000 single females[2] actively looking to date a divorced man, with ONS reporting divorce rates have risen for the first time in eight years[3] while almost one million relationships are in the process of breaking up.[4]
Women cite better relationship experience as the main attraction to divorced men (12 per cent), along with an increased likelihood that they'll be sensitive to their partner's needs (eight per cent) and the fact they've demonstrated serious commitment in the past (seven per cent).[5]
But it also seems some things are more important than baggage from previous relationships. More than a third (36 per cent) don't care if a man is divorced as long as he is interesting, and a fifth (18 per cent) aren't interested in his relationship history as long as he's attractive.
A quarter of women also admit they're not put-off by children from another relationship (24 per cent).
Famous Pumas who have snagged their prey include the wife of Brian Ferry, Amanda Sheppard and the spouse of the three-times-married Oscar nominee Gary Oldman.
