NEW YORK, Feb. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Tyco International Ltd. (Tyco) Senior Vice President of Corporate Governance, Eric M. Pillmore, has joined Deloitte's Center for Corporate Governance. Pillmore will assist Deloitte clients on issues of corporate governance.
Through his governance, risk management and ethics work with Tyco and its board of directors, Pillmore helped transform Tyco into a leader in corporate governance. GovernanceMetrics International recognized Tyco as the most improved U.S. company in the governance area from 2002-2005.
"Eric's nearly 30 years of leadership experience — not the least of which involved the award-winning turnaround of Tyco's corporate governance practices earlier this decade — will be invaluable to our clients," said Raymond Lewis, who leads Deloitte's U.S. Center for Corporate Governance. "As investors, regulators and legislators take a renewed focus on the role of the corporate board, we are pleased to have someone with Eric's knowledge and experience join our ranks to provide insight to Deloitte clients."
"I'm thrilled to become part of the strong Deloitte corporate governance team," said Pillmore. "I look forward to continuing my career of improving governance processes and helping boards with issues such as board governance assessments and improvement plans."
Prior to joining Deloitte, Pillmore was a consultant to board members of Fortune 500 and growing enterprises on governance matters. He also previously served as chief financial officer to organizations within the technology, plastics and medical systems sectors. Pillmore began his career as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of New Mexico and his master's degree in business administration from Villanova University.
In 2007, Pillmore was listed among the 100 Most Influential People in business ethics by Ethisphere Magazine.
