Frederick Flying Cows and Maryland Farm Bureau Announce Cowfest 2026!
Frederick's signature fall festival returns October 25 with a world record attempt, family entertainment, a presenting sponsor and a new partnership benefiting the Mental Health Association of Frederick County.
FREDERICK, Md., Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- This weekend, the Frederick Flying Cows will host Cowfest 2026 Presented by Maryland Farm Bureau, returning to the Great Frederick Fairgrounds on Sunday, October 25, 2026, for what is expected to be one of the largest family festivals in Maryland this fall.
Following the tremendous success of the inaugural Cowfest, which welcomed over 1,000 attendees with 1,048 participants in last year's world record attempt, the event returns with an even bigger vision—bringing together the Frederick community and visitors from across the region to celebrate agriculture, family fun, local businesses, and an attempt to break the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as cows.
As the Presenting Sponsor of Cowfest 2026, the Maryland Farm Bureau joins the Flying Cows in creating an event that celebrates the people, families, and agricultural traditions that have shaped Frederick County and communities throughout Maryland.
Cowfest 2026 will once again transform the Great Frederick Fairgrounds into an interactive celebration featuring attractions and entertainment for all ages, including:

Also new for 2026, the Flying Cows are proud to partner with the Mental Health Association of Frederick County, with a portion of event proceeds supporting mental health programs and services throughout the community. The partnership reflects Cowfest's continued mission of creating an event that not only brings people together but also creates a lasting impact beyond festival day. The Flying Cows will donate 50% of all sponsorship proceeds raised by the event back to MHA.
General admission tickets are just $5, with children ages three and under admitted free. Fans can also purchase the popular Onesie + Ticket Bundle, which includes admission and an official Flying Cows cow onesie—everything needed to join the world record attempt. Participants wearing qualifying cow-print attire will be included in the official count.
Beyond the festivities, Cowfest continues to serve as a powerful community initiative, bringing together local businesses, nonprofit organizations, schools, agricultural leaders, and families for a day that showcases the very best of Frederick County.
The Flying Cows expect Cowfest 2026 to surpass last year's attendance, break the current world record of 1,352 people dressed as cows and establish itself as one of the region's premier annual fall festivals.
