LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y., Nov. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- FreshDirect, New York City's premier online grocer, today announced the launch of their Thanksgiving online store, full of exclusive and new Thanksgiving items. Offering everything from delicious chef-made trimmings to the freshest turkeys (including antibiotic free options), FreshDirect prides itself on being the destination for their customers' Thanksgiving feasts.  This season, they will be selling Heritage turkeys from Epicurean Farms, only available at FreshDirect. These Bourbon Red turkeys, originating in Bourbon County, KY, are raised humanely and without antibiotics on an all-vegetable diet.

The company is also delighted to collaborate with Martha Stewart to offer the popular Young Turkey this year. Raised in a sustainable, responsible manner and with no artificial flavors added, the Martha Stewart Young Turkey is a conscientious option that is fresh and naturally delicious. Each whole, fresh Young Turkey is juicy and tender, and produced in partnership with leading turkey grower Hain Pure Protein.  With FreshDirect and Martha Stewart's shared value of creating fresh and flavorful meals, this partnership is sure to be a winning combination for the holiday.

Also available at FreshDirect are turduckens, a deboned turkey (raised without antibiotics) stuffed with a boneless chicken breast (also raised without antibiotics) and a boneless Muscovy duck breast.

To give back, FreshDirect is leveraging its long-time relationship with City Harvest this season, donating two turkeys to families in need, with each large sized Thanksgiving meal sold. Customers also will have the option to add a $5 to $25 donation upon checkout to City Harvest and on November 16, FreshDirect will distribute one hundred turkeys to families at the Jan Hus Presbyterian Church in Manhattan.  Additionally, they will be donating almost a truck-load of produce to the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair, NJ, to help feed over 500 residents for Thanksgiving.

"We're thrilled to work with City Harvest this season as we have a long-standing relationship with the organization," said Richard Braddock, CEO and Chairman of FreshDirect. "We will also partner with many other organizations to donate turkeys, produce and high quality foods to enable all communities to celebrate Thanksgiving this year."

This year, the company is offering new options for a convenient, no-stress, chef-made, holiday meal. Customers can choose between five affordable dinner packages, with sizes feeding between 2-18 people, including turkey, side dishes and dessert options, all freshly prepared in the FreshDirect kitchen. Meals feed guests for as little as $17 per person. Pre-ordering begins today for deliveries on November 23 and 24.

"Our delicious Thanksgiving meals conveniently limit the stress of preparing a large feast and allow families to appreciate the holiday while enjoying our delicious cuisine," said Monica Woo, chief marketing officer at FreshDirect. "We're excited to partner with Martha Stewart to offer sustainable and natural options for our customers, as well as the exclusive Bourbon Heritage Turkey."
