From Santa Monica to Italy with One Sip

SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Long known as the preeminent beachfront dining destination in Santa Monica, Coast Beach Cafe & Bar at the iconic Shutters on the Beach furthers its commitment to culinary and oenological pursuits by partnering with Joseph Bastianich, Lidia Bastianich and Mario Batali on their joint wine venture during the restaurant's "Summer of Bastianich."  From Memorial Day to Labor Day, all of the wines served at Coast will be exclusively from the Bastianich Winery, La Mozza and Brandini.

Restaurateur Joseph Bastianich is considered a foremost authority on Italian wines, having created the Bastianich Winery with his mother, acclaimed Public Television host of "Lidia's Italy," chef and restaurateur Lidia Bastianich in 1997, and partnering with celebrity chef Mario Batali and Lidia on La Mozza in 2000.  From the Bastianich Winery located in Friuli-Venezia Giulia to the Tuscan climes of La Mozza, each of the wines are reflective of the terrain and terrior of Italy.

All wines will be available by the glass, carafe or bottle.  Some of the exciting wines being served are a ripe and fruity Friulano, an intensely colored Rosato and the sexy, juicy La Mozza Aragone, a blend consisting of 85% Morellino, the local name for Sangiovese.

All new breakfast, lunch and dinner menus will also be unveiled at Coast this summer. New signature dishes, which will be reflective of the seaside location, will partner beautifully with these Italian wines, creating an unparalleled summer experience that can only be found at Shutters on the Beach.
