MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the industrial hand protection market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Ansell, a global leader in protection solutions, with the 2015 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation Leadership. Ansell has raised the bar once again in providing cut-protection solutions with its INTERCEPT Technology yarns. By weaving this technology into its flagship brand, HyFlex, one of the most recognized industrial brands for hand protection globally; Ansell has built on its brand position in spite of operating in a highly fragmented market.
Ansell introduced its INTERCEPT Technology as a product development platform to manage current and future cut-protection innovations. It is a proprietary cut-resistant yarn technology providing the ideal balance of comfort, protection and dexterity, which, in turn, improves compliance. Moreover, the special-knit construction creates a soft, comfortable yarn optimizing the gloves' fit and feel, while providing European Standard (EN) cut-protection levels of 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Ansell launched the INTERCEPT Technology with a suite of eight light-and medium-duty gloves under the HyFlex portfolio. The gloves provide cut protection, abrasion resistance, grip, tactility and dexterity, and are designed to lower injury expense without compromising productivity or quality.
"The INTERCEPT Technology incorporates end-user insights and combines superior design with efficient manufacturing to create breakthrough products," said Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Alisha Basha. "For instance, the HyFlex gloves are tailored using their ZONZ™ Comfort Fit Technology of open-weave zones and knit designs. This technology is used around the knuckles and areas of high stress to enhance hand comfort."
The INTERCEPT Technology also coats the light-duty gloves with nitrile or polyurethane using the proprietary FORTIX™ Abrasion Resistance technology. This coating formulation offers the gloves eight times more durability than similar lightweight gloves; in addition, the coatings are silicone free. This is particularly beneficial in the automotive industry, as it protects the wearer from hazardous substances during the painting process. The gloves also incorporate Ansell's patented, gripping-surface technology, minimizing the force required to grip wet and oily surfaces, thereby reducing hand fatigue.
The INTERCEPT program is grounded in market intelligence regarding global industry demands for more comprehensive cut protection solutions. The program targets high-volume applications in key vertical markets where cut risks are known to drive product selection. The gloves with INTERCEPT Technology are designed for the core-work processes of the automotive, machinery and equipment, and metal fabrication industries. They also find application in aerospace, glass manufacturing, transport, construction and other manufacturing sectors.
"The patent-pending INTERCEPT Technology has also created significant opportunities for Ansell through supply-chain simplification," noted Alisha. "The backward integration in yarn technology has provided Ansell with the chance to re-engineer other cut protection gloves using its own proprietary yarns."
