Gadget Freak of the Year: the Winner Is...

Gadget Freak is devoted to the projects made by part-time inventors. Our most recent contributors range from a 15-year-old high school student, to college students, to retired engineers, and we've seen projects that help people in some way and others that are just plain fun. Gadget Freak has long been sponsored by Allied Electronics.

In addition to the $500 awarded for being selected as a Gadget Freak, all selected gadgets for 2014 will be included in the Gadget Freak of the Year contest. Starting in mid-December, the readers of Design News will then vote on the best gadget.  The winning gadget will receive an additional $6,000 with two runners-up who will receive $2,000 each.  

The winning gadget and the runners-up will be announced February 10, 2015 during the Golden Mousetrap Awards Ceremony; held in conjunction with Pacific Design & Manufacturing; in Anaheim, California.
