NEW YORK, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Apparel manufacturer Garan Incorporated, a Berkshire Hathaway company, has retained CooperKatz & Company, Inc. as its public relations agency of record to promote Garanimals®, its iconic line of children's clothing, shoes and toys sold exclusively at Walmart.

First launched in 1972, Garanimals revolutionized children's clothing with its innovative mix-and-match tagging system for young children. By pairing brightly colored tops and bottoms with their own recognizable characters, Garanimals makes it possible for parents to assemble great-looking and affordable matching outfits. In August 2009, Garanimals expanded its brand to include footwear and toys, and will be introducing a collection of books as well as plush and accessories later this year.

"CooperKatz was selected based on their team's creative and strategic approach to reaching our target audiences, coupled with the agency's broad range of experience supporting consumer clients," said a Garan spokesperson.

"We are thrilled to be working with such an established and successful apparel manufacturer," said Ralph Katz, Principal and Co-Founder of CooperKatz & Company. "The Garanimals children's clothing line has been mixing and matching its way into kids' closets and moms' hearts for more than 35 years.  We're excited to help ensure that both those familiar with Garanimals as well as those families who are new to the brand understand the fun, value and quality that are the hallmarks of each Garanimals product."
