SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Gigamon Inc. ("Gigamon"), the company leading the convergence of network and security operations to help organizations improve their security stance, today announced that Joan Dempsey has re-joined its board of directors. Dempsey, who had previously served on the board from June 2016 thru December 2017 while Gigamon was a public company, adds 25 years of business and cybersecurity experience to the team.
"Dempsey's impressive background spans stints in the Navy, CIA and ultimately the federal government, followed by an impressive track record in the private sector, has helped her develop a unique perspective on intelligence, leadership and security and I'm pleased to have her as a trusted partner and counselor back on our board," said Paul Hooper, CEO of Gigamon. "As we enter our next phase of growth, the board will benefit from her deep cybersecurity and cyber operations experience as we continue to reduce complexity and increase efficiency of security tools."
Dempsey is currently the chair of the advisory board for Booz Allen Hamilton where she previously served as an executive vice president and senior partner in the firm's defense and intelligence group. She also led three of the firm's largest defense managed labor and intelligence accounts and was responsible for strategic development, execution and day-to-day operations. For nearly a decade, Joan led the firm's participation in the Aspen Ideas Fest where she served as a frequent panelist on defense issues, cybersecurity and cyber operations and women in leadership panels. Previously, she earned two political appointments, spent over 25 years in the U.S. Navy and 7 years at the CIA, followed by several intelligence leadership positions at the Pentagon. She also serves on the board of directors of Intelsat General Corporation and is a trustee of SRC, Inc.
"The evolving nature of the global threat landscape is driving the need for enterprises to deploy resilient and agile security architectures. At the same time, the limited resource pools available to establish and manage best in class cybersecurity processes are driving the need for cost effective and efficient products," said Dempsey. "I'm excited to work with Gigamon again as they tackle the challenge of defining and delivering next generation security tools."
