CHICAGO, Nov. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Gilda's Club Chicago is pleased to announce a new partnership with national wine company, Cellar Angels, to generate proceeds through online wine sales.
Gilda's Club Chicago is a free cancer support community for the whole family, the whole time – and embraces Gilda Radner's legacy of humor and courage when faced with a cancer diagnosis. Radner believed that no one should have to face cancer alone, which inspired the creation of Gilda's Club in 1995. As a non-profit, 501(c) 3 organization, all funding for Gilda's Club Chicago is provided locally through donations from individuals, businesses, foundations and special events. The marketing partnership with Cellar Angels is one of the first of its kind for Gilda's Club and they look forward to the opportunities it presents.
Cellar Angels is the premiere source for exclusive wines from Napa and Sonoma, offered to its members at a discount. Members select a charity during the purchase process, known as "Sip, Save, Give," and 10 percent of net proceeds are donated to their chosen charity. The wines are some of the best of Napa and Sonoma, which are not available in retail locations as production volumes are too low. Similar to Gilda's Club, membership in Cellar Angels is free.
For Cellar Angels, the partnership was an easy decision. President Martin Cody states, "I could go on and on about what Gilda's Club Chicago does for those living with cancer as well as their family and friends touched by this disease, but to try and squeeze it in a few sentences would be a disservice. We're humbled to leverage the nation's love of wine to help them raise much- needed funds in order to continue their mission."
For Gilda's Club the decision was equally easy. As LauraJane Hyde, CEO, says, "We're very selective with whom we partner because living our mission and serving our members is integral to the work we do. We appreciate what Cellar Angels is doing and how they do it, especially if it helps us continue to expand our programming. We know our donors will appreciate their effort too!"
Cellar Angels membership is free and available by registering at www.cellarangels.com
About Cellar Angels: There are over 8,000 wineries in the United States with over 1,000 located in Napa and Sonoma counties. Nearly 95 percent of the wineries in Napa and Sonoma produce less than 10,000 cases of wine. As a result, they will never get picked up by a wine distributor because the volumes are just too low. Thus, some of the best wines never see a wine store shelf or restaurant menu since they don't have national distribution. Cellar Angels makes these wines available at a discount, and allows the purchaser to select from a list of charities that will receive a portion of the proceeds. If you like wine and like helping others, your new virtual wine store awaits.
