SEATTLE and YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio, Jan. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- GlobalScholar today announced that its Scantron brand has entered into a distribution agreement with Turning Technologies. "We're extremely proud to be working with Turning Technologies," said John Lawler, president of Scantron and GlobalScholar. "Its response technology is first class and a great fit with our assessment solution. We're confident this robust offering can have a very positive and more immediate impact on K-12 student achievement."
Turning Technologies' software allows teachers to ask students interactive formative assessment questions or summative self-paced assessment items. Students respond using durable ResponseCard® keypads ("clickers"). The responses are immediately gathered and displayed either in formative assessment group settings or privately to the teacher during more formal testing. This critical data allows educators to assess in real-time student understanding and comprehension of lesson materials while also engaging every student with every question. With this valuable insight, teachers can easily differentiate instruction and monitor progress in order to increase student learning outcomes.
The Turning Technologies Suite currently interfaces key scoring information with Pinnacle Grade, GlobalScholar's online gradebook for grades K-12, which lessens teachers' administrative burdens.
"Our strategic alliance with Scantron will allow our response technology system to reach even more K-12 students," commented Turning Technologies Founder and CEO Mike Broderick. "Our joining together will also help district and state administrators realize greater efficiencies. It promises to be a win-win for everyone – but most importantly, for our kids."
