Globe Education Network To Volunteer Thousands Of Community Service Hours In One Day

MINNEAPOLIS, June 19, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Friday, June 19, Globe Education Network (GEN), a collaborative body of career colleges, universities and training centers, will host the eighth annual We Care community service day. One thousand two hundred employees from Globe University and Minnesota School of Business, Broadview University, Minnesota School of Cosmetology, Broadview Entertainment Arts University and the Institute of Production and Recording will volunteer their time with dozens of organizations.

"We carry out this theme on a daily basis by caring for our students, employees and employers who hire our graduates. The entire Globe Education Network organization looks forward to community service day each year when we can give back to the communities in which we live and work."

Employees from 28 campuses in Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Utah and Idaho will spend the day helping a variety of organizations including Little Free Library, Feed My Starving Children, Junior Achievement, the National Railroad Museum, Boy Scouts of America, the YMCA, Feeding South Dakota and more. In 2014, GEN employees invested 2,400 volunteer hours on this one day alone.

In addition to its annual community service day, GEN is dedicated to the community year-round. Through its We Care mission, the colleges integrate career-focused education with applied learning to expose students to real-world working environments by partnering with organizations including Make-A-Wish Foundation, Youth Frontiers, National Kidney Foundation, Animal Humane Society, United Way, American Cancer Society, Big Brother Big Sisters, Ronald McDonald House and many more. In 2014, students completed 345 applied learning projects for local businesses and non-profits.
