Gnarus Advisors LLC Opens Offices in Palo Alto and Los Angeles
Top consulting firm extends national presence with the opening of two West Coast offices; addition of veteran consultants allows Gnarus to offer broader and deeper expertise in environmental consulting
ARLINGTON, Va., May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Gnarus Advisors LLC (Gnarus), a leading consulting firm specializing in expert analysis, litigation testimony and business advisory, announced today that the company has opened offices in Palo Alto and Los Angeles. The West Coast expansion is part of Gnarus' overall growth strategy, which has allowed the firm to provide broader and deeper levels of expertise for its clients across the country.
Founded in 2007 by Managing Director Stephen Sellick, Gnarus has quickly grown to include a team of more than 40 billable consultants. "The launch of our new offices in Palo Alto and Los Angeles extends our reach from coast to coast and provides the perfect complement to our existing offices," Sellick said. Gnarus operates headquarters in Arlington, VA, maintains an office in Waltham, MA, and employs additional consultants throughout the country. "Our West Coast expansion includes the addition of six new Directors who extend the scope of our expertise to include environmental management systems, property value diminution, and environmental enforcement. Their addition significantly enhances the depth of our expertise in other key areas as well."
Since the company's founding Gnarus has continuously attracted senior-level talent with a strong client base. Gnarus' leadership is relentlessly focused on creating a firm where consultants can perfect their work without the unnecessary bureaucracy of larger firms. That focus on efficiency and the company's progressive work environment have been the keys to Gnarus' extraordinary growth.
"This isn't just about adding new offices. These experts are the best in their fields and bring decades of experience to our clients," Sellick said. The new additions in Palo Alto and Los Angeles consist of a core group of six Directors and associated support staff who made the move to Gnarus. "I have known and worked with this team for nearly 20 years," Sellick said. "I'm very excited to have them as colleagues again."
Stephen Johnson, who joins Gnarus as a Director, opened the Palo Alto office. He has served as an environmental regulator and as a consultant to businesses across a wide spectrum of industries and to many public agencies. With over 25 years of experience in the environmental field, Johnson provides expert testimony and consulting services on a variety of issues including contaminated site cleanup as well as regulatory compliance and enforcement matters. Johnson leads Gnarus' expansion into environmental enforcement matters and adds depth to the company's national contingency plan cost and consistency analysis practice. His practice also includes providing overall project management for contaminated site work, evaluating the sufficiency and care of cleanup work, and analyzing "brownfield" redevelopment issues. Gnarus' new Palo Alto office supplements the company's Palo Alto presence that began with Jeffrey Zelikson joining Gnarus last year. Zelikson, who has over 35 years of experience, focuses on regulatory and cost related matters in Superfund cost recovery, insurance and bankruptcy cases.
Gnarus' Los Angeles office is now home to John Butler III, Christopher Loos, Christopher Warshaw, Dr. Louis Wilde and Marcia Williams. The combined expertise of these five Directors immediately enhances the scope of services provided by Gnarus' environmental practice.
Butler's work centers around the economic and financial implications of environmental and product liability legislation and regulatory policy, expert testimony and settlement support in environmental, product liability and insurance recovery litigation, as well as the analysis of opportunities and business strategy in the environmental services sector. Butler adds depth to a number of Gnarus' existing practice areas including liability estimation, insurance coverage and claims analysis, and PRP (potentially responsible party) cost allocation.
Loos is a seasoned consultant who has 15 years of experience working with companies across a wide range of industries. His work primarily focuses on the valuation of economic damages and cost allocation in the context of litigation, private cost recovery actions, and insurance claim disputes. Loos also has extensive experience handling environmental claims and has examined hundreds of sites involved in potential litigation.
Warshaw's experience includes numerous management consulting projects where he has helped clients comply with environmental regulations, assessed and audited environmental programs, and evaluated the staffing and organizational aspects of the environmental arms of large companies. Warshaw also helps consumer product companies with the development and sale of products that are safe and in compliance with international standards and regulations. Warshaw's practice expands Gnarus into environmental management assessment and systems improvements.
Dr. Wilde brings a wealth of experience in academia and a strong consulting background to Gnarus Advisors. His areas of expertise include antitrust, intellectual property, labor, toxic tort, entertainment, contract, and environmental economics. Wilde's environmental economics work primarily focuses on cost allocation, natural resource damage assessment, and property value diminution. Wilde (along with Loos) leads Gnarus' expansion into the property value diminution arena. His work also extends Gnarus' reach into the areas of economic analysis, class certification, and natural resource damages.
Williams brings a wealth of governmental and corporate experience to Gnarus. During her 18 years with the Environmental Protection Agency, Williams held senior management positions in multiple USEPA offices. As a consultant, Williams has helped regulated entities establish and strengthen EHS management programs and increase the cost-effectiveness of their implementation. She has also provided expert testimony in a wide range of litigation matters, including insurance coverage cases, contract disputes, CERCLA cost recovery actions, toxic tort cases, federal and state civil and criminal enforcement matters, and NAFTA cases. Williams (along with Warshaw) leads Gnarus' expansion into environmental management assessment and systems improvements. She also adds depth to Gnarus' expertise in standard of care issues.
