GOJO Supports Early-Career Vocational Education Through Relationship with SkillsUSA

GOJO once again served as the sponsor of the community service event at this year's SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference.

AKRON, Ohio, July 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- GOJO Industries, the leading global producer and marketer of skin health and hygiene solutions, strengthened its support for career-vocational education among young people by serving as the sponsor for this year's SkillsUSA community service project held during the organization's 2015 National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Ky., Fri. June 26^th.

The week-long conference for the national nonprofit, which is committed to developing a quality trade, technical and skilled service workforce, concluded with the community service project, where more than 500 SkillsUSA students volunteered at 11 project sites throughout the Greater Louisville area.

The projects included:

Habitat for Humanity – Students assisted at housing construction sites in local neighborhoods.
Louisville Metro Parks – Through mulching and weeding, students participated in the beautification of multiple parks in the area.
Water Step – Students partnered with this local nonprofit to sort food donations and to discover ways to provide clean drinking water to developing counties.
Youth Build – Students assisted in landscaping, gardening and painting for an outdoor learning classroom.
Dare to Care – At this local food pantry, students sorted donations and boxed care packages.

This is the second year GOJO sponsored the community service event.
