Golden Triangle BID to Debut "Art Ave" on September 10

A Bold New Immersive Art Experience in the Heart of DC's Downtown

WASHINGTON, Sept. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, Sept. 10, the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) will be joined by Mayor Muriel Bowser, Ward 2 Councilmember Brooke Pinto, District Office of Planning Director Anita Cozart, DC Department of Small and Local Business Development Director Rosemary Suggs-Evans, and other guests to unveil Art Ave, an immersive public art experience transforming downtown around Farragut Square into a dynamic, walkable outdoor gallery. Funded by a Streets for People grant program through the DC Office of Planning, the curated collection of large-scale artworks will turn the iconic neighborhood into a vibrant canvas for creativity, culture, and community engagement.

Stretching through the heart of the District's commercial core, the artworks will be on display through January 2026. Residents, workers, and visitors are invited to explore Art Ave where they'll encounter sculptures, ground floor window art, interactive installations, and site-specific pieces created by local, national, and international artists. Designed to surprise and inspire, Art Ave spans three blocks of the Golden Triangle and offers a unique lens on the city's energy and diversity, encouraging repeat visits with live events throughout the fall.

An Experience Beyond the Visual

Visitors can expect more than static displays. Many installations incorporate interactive elements, music, or lighting effects that invite participation. Onsite signage includes QR codes to a free self-guided tour using a mobile device, inviting discovery of the full Art Ave experience on-demand.

The opening event on Sept. 10 will feature guided art walks, artist meet-and-greets, and live pop-up performances, creating a festival-like atmosphere that celebrates both the art and the neighborhood. The public is invited to join the Art Ave opening event beginning at 11 a.m. in Farragut Square.

Art Ave will also be featured as part of DSLBD's annual Art All Night event, occurring Sept. 12 – 13, 2025, which highlights the thriving local arts scene across the District.

A Season of Creativity
Throughout the fall, Art Ave will be activated through a fun series of public events—from culturally-rich weekday lunchtime performances and Saturday morning family-friendly programs to interactive art walks. These events will draw workers, residents, and visitors to the streets of DC to rediscover downtown as a place of inspiration and vitality.
