Goulston & Storrs Bolsters DC Office
Land Use Group from Pillsbury Joins Firm
WASHINGTON, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Goulston & Storrs is pleased to announce that five Land Use and Zoning partners from Pillsbury's Washington office have joined the firm's DC office. The partners are Maureen E. Dwyer, John T. Epting, Phil T. Feola, Allison C. Prince and Paul A. Tummonds, Jr.
Goulston & Storrs originally opened its Washington, DC office to support its National Affordable Housing practice in 2001. Several years later, the firm accelerated its efforts to broaden its DC office into a full service real estate practice, with the addition of Shelley Weisel from Shaw Pittman and Dennis Moyer, former managing partner of the Northern Virginia office of Hogan & Hartson.
Doug Husid, the firm's co-managing director, commented that "this group, in our view, is the premier land use group in Washington, DC. Our goal since coming to Washington has been to create the District's strongest and broadest real estate practice. The addition of this group is another major step in that effort. Over the last couple of years, we have continued our strategic growth in Washington with the arrival of George Weidenfeller, the former Deputy General Counsel of HUD, followed by Steve Schneider, a pre-eminent tax attorney, and Tim Watkins, the former general counsel of Penzance, a private equity real estate investment company that owns, develops and manages commercial real estate. Once again, we have added lawyers with significant expertise, knowledge and high profile positions, which will further benefit both our local and national clients across multiple offices."
"We look forward to contributing to the growth of the Washington office and working with the outstanding clients and lawyers across the firm," commented new Director, Maureen Dwyer, former co-chair of the Land Use Group at Pillsbury. "We are delighted to be joining a firm with such a stellar reputation, and a deep historic commitment to real estate."
Dwyer added that while she felt that Goulston's size, scope of services and experience more closely matched the clients, particularly universities, that her team served, she believed that there would be a lot of shared opportunities between the two firms.
"We wish our colleagues good fortune at Goulston," said Pillsbury Firm Chair Jim Rishwain. "I am confident that we will continue to work with Maureen, Allison, John, Phil and Paul on joint projects and opportunities as we continue to serve our clients at the highest level."
