Government Stealing $Millions of City Public TV Trust Funds: Full Disclosure Network® News Video
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With only two hours notice Full Disclosure Network® rushed to the Los Angeles City Hall on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 where a strategic five-year plan for L.A. City Government Channels was announced. The plan consisted of an elaborate two hour presentation of how the City plans to use multi-millions of dollars to produce video content for the government. Distribution of the videos to the public are to be featured in taxicabs, at airports and gas stations. The City is proposing to use PEG Trust Funds, set aside by Legislation, to guarantee public access to Cable and Telecom Video Channels for independent productions. Watch the video here.
EXCITING LOCATIONS FOR GOVERNMENT VIDEOS
In a ten minute news video, Full Disclosure also interviewed Ron Kaye, veteran newsman and long-time Editor of the L.A. Daily News, who jokingly suggested that the City's plan is so extensive they may even place videos in public urinals to get maximum exposure for the local elected officials. A more detailed report from the two-hour meeting is to featured on public channels and the Internet.
PLANS EXCLUDE THE PUBLIC
Full Disclosure learned of the massive plan to expand government channels 35 and 36, at the almost-secret meeting where no members of the public attended. No other media or press attended the Special Joint Meeting of the Los Angeles ITA (Information Technology Agency) and Budget Committees. END OF FREE SPEECH IN THE HEART OF U.S. MEDIA CENTER
In 2009, the City of Los Angeles shut down all fourteen public channels following the enactment of State legislation known as the Digital Infrastructure & Video Competition Act (DIVCA) of 2006 whereby the Cable companies and Telecom Companies would be regulated by the State rather than local government. The legislation was sponsored by Los Angeles Assemblyman Fabian Nunez.
