Governor Edward G. Rendell and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Expand Support for Abtech Holdings, Inc.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Abtech Holdings, Inc. (OTC QB: ABHD) ("AbTech" or the "Company"), a full-service environmental technologies and engineering firm dedicated to providing innovative solutions to communities, industry, and governments addressing issues of water pollution and contamination, today announced that Governor Edward G. Rendell and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have expanded their support for AbTech by extending their terms on the Strategic Advisory Board through 2016.
A two-term governor of Pennsylvania and former-Mayor of Philadelphia, Governor Rendell joined AbTech's advisory board in 2012 to support the Company in its efforts to provide effective, ecological solutions to the growing global problem of water pollution. Governor Rendell also serves as a consultant and board member for several green and alternative energy firms, including Building America's Future Education Fund, which he cofounded together with former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a bipartisan coalition of elected officials dedicated to U.S. infrastructure investment and environmental sustainability. Governor Rendell, on behalf of AbTech Industries, presented as the key note speaker at the North American Surface Water Quality Conference, held this week in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Commenting on his decision to extend his term on the advisory board, Governor Rendell said, "Investment in America's infrastructure is an absolute necessity. Cost-effective 21st century solutions, such as AbTech's integrated public-private partnership program -- including AbTech's recent $12 million Design-Build-Operate stormwater award in the northeast -- is exactly the type of game-changing approach to address municipal infrastructure issues that Pennsylvania – indeed, every state -- needs to embrace. AbTech's comprehensive solutions to water contamination problems are backed by cost-effective, category-leading technology. I look forward to being at the ground-breaking ceremony for the first installation of AbTech solutions in my home state!"
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., one of the most prominent international figures in environmental advocacy, joined AbTech's advisory board in 2010. Mr. Kennedy is Founder and President of the Waterkeeper Alliance, an environmental organization founded in 1999 advocating the protection of rivers, streams, and coastlines around the globe. Mr. Kennedy is also senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council and a Partner at VantagePoint Capital Partners. Mr. Kennedy stated, "AbTech is the clear leader in the stormwater management field, a fact demonstrated yet again by AbTech's recent large award for the first design-build-operate stormwater system in the United States. This will rightly serve as the model for other municipalities throughout the country. AbTech has my full support and I look forward to further advancing the visibility of the Company."
