Governor Rendell Calls House Severance Tax Vote Positive Step Forward
Urges Strong Bipartisan Action, Senate to Act Swiftly Upon Final Passage in House
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Edward G. Rendell issued the following statement tonight in response to the state House of Representatives' vote on legislation that would enact a severance tax on natural gas extraction:
"The action taken by the House tonight is important because it sets the stage for the final adoption of a responsible extraction tax — one that will that ultimately allow for environmental protection, economic development, and a reduction on the strain to local government services.
