Governor Rendell Orders Flags to Fly at Half-Staff to Mark Passing of Civil Rights Leader Dorothy Height

HARRISBURG, Pa., April 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At the direction of Governor Edward G. Rendell, all United States and Pennsylvania Flags on all state facilities are to be flown at half-staff on Thursday, April 29, to honor the memory of civil rights leader Dorothy Height, who died last week at the age of 98.

President Barack Obama has ordered the flags flown at half staff as a mark of respect for the memory of Ms. Height, a founding matriarch of the American civil rights movement. Her crusade for racial justice and gender equality spanned more than 60 years.

Flags shall remain at half-staff through sunset.
