Great Lakes Water Conservation Conference Announces John Stier of Antea™Group as Keynote Speaker
Stier presents the Brewers Association's New Sustainability Guides for Craft Brewers
CHICAGO, Aug. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Craft brewers attending this year's fifth annual Great Lakes Water Conservation Conference in Chicago, IL, on October 4-5 will be among the first to glean practical advice, sustainability strategy tips, knowledge and more from the lead developer for the Brewers Association's craft brewing industry sustainability manuals. John Stier from Antea™Group will present this year's luncheon address on "Best Practice Guidance & Practical Advice on Sustainability in the Craft Brewing Industry."
John and his team are currently assisting the Brewers Association ("BA") with its first association-wide sustainability initiative, designed to provide Brewers Association members with best practices, resources and tools. Manuals on Water/Wastewater, Energy/GHG, and Solid Waste are designed with an emphasis on practicality and usability, featuring case studies, tools and resources directly from the craft brewing community.
Chris Swersey, Technical Brewing Projects Coordinator for BA, notes: "We took on this project on behalf of our members, who requested practical guidance and an understanding of sustainability issues within the context of a craft brewer's unique needs and business setting. Sustainability is a journey, requiring many decisions along the way. The manuals and online interactive tools will reflect not only general best practices but also perspectives and examples from actual craft brewers, allowing members to begin their own journeys and make their decisions with confidence."
As part of his keynote, John will share highlights of some key concepts and practices learned, as well as the numerous sustainability strategies and tactics gleaned from firsthand interviews and discussions with BA members throughout North America. "Assisting the Brewers Association and their members in the creation of sustainability resources has been a rewarding project," says John. "I look forward to sharing what we've learned thus far with conference attendees, as well as discussing the possibilities the future will hold for the craft brewing industry to realize significant savings."
