DDF Receives Excellence in Healthcare Program Award
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce honored Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF) with the Excellence in Healthcare Program Award at the annual Excellence in Healthcare Awards Luncheon on Thursday, November 2, 2017. The award, accepted by DDF's Vice President Michael Ehren, Esq., was given for the organization's dedication and hard work in supporting and educating gastric cancer patients, their families, and caregivers.
Each year the award is granted to a community based program administered by a Broward-based non-profit organization whose influence extends beyond the population it serves. DDF currently operates as a valuable international education and support resource for stomach cancer patients, their families, and caregivers through its free Patient Resource Education Program (PREP). The program helps patients understand their diagnosis, staging, treatment options, clinical trials, side effect management, research, management of the disease, and more. PREP also connects patients with vital information from the world's leading stomach cancer doctors about the best treatments available, as well as with mentors who share their stories, tips, advice, and concerns so that patients don't feel alone in their fight.
