Grindr Grows to Over One Million Members in 180 Countries

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Grindr, the world's largest all-male mobile location-based networking service, announces that it has reached yet another milestone as its member ranks swell to more than one million.

Since launching only eighteen months ago in March 2009, Grindr has become a global sensation.  Covered by major media outlets around the world including CNN.com, the New York Times, and the London Evening Standard, Grindr has users in every major U.S. city and in 180 countries across the globe including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Macedonia, Rwanda, Bhutan, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Malawi, Samoa, Sri Lanka, and Yemen.  In the United States, Grindr has amassed nearly half a million users, with 48,000 of those in New York City alone.  Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom and Australia, more than 150,000 and 100,000 users respectively have joined the Grindr phenomenon.

On a daily basis, Grindr counts some 250,000 active users who log on approximately eight times per day and spend an average of 1.3 hours each day using the app.  On a weekly basis, the number of active users grows to 400,000 and on a monthly basis that number climbs to nearly 600,000.  Additionally, 3,000 new users continue to join the Grindr community every day.
