GroundFloor Media Achieves B Corporation® Certification
Prestigious certification recognizes companies that are using their business as a force for good
DENVER, Aug. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- GroundFloor Media (GFM), a Denver-based marketing communications agency, has achieved the prestigious B Corporation Certification. The certification, conferred by the global nonprofit B Lab®, recognizes companies that are using their business as a force for good. In receiving this distinction, GFM joins more than 80 others in Colorado and more than 1,800 companies from more than 130 industries in nearly 50 countries around the world, including well-known social and environmental leaders New Belgium Brewing, Patagonia, Seventh Generation, Ben & Jerry's, Etsy, Warby Parker, Method, Hootsuite, Door to Door Organics and Bhakti Chai.
Certified B Corps meet some of the highest global standards for transparency, accountability and social and environmental performance. Certified B Corps also have demonstrably more positive impacts on workers, communities, and the environment than other traditional companies while performing at or better than market on traditional business metrics such as growth and profitability.
"B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk," said Laura Love, founder of GFM. "We are deeply honored to have received this certification that places us among an incredible group of companies that are leading a global movement to redefine success in business. These companies are creating higher quality jobs and improving the quality of life in our communities."
To become certified, GFM had to prove that the agency met stringent performance requirements outlined in the B Impact Assessment, a globally recognized standard that looks at environmental performance, a company's impact on all its stakeholders (e.g., employees, suppliers, community, customers and the environment), and a company's accountability, governance and transparency practices.
In becoming certified, GFM joins fellow certified B Corps in accepting an added legal responsibility to consider the impact of their decisions not only on their shareholders, but also on their stakeholders (e.g., workers, suppliers, community, consumers, and the environment).
"The B Corp Declaration of Interdependence takes a cue from Ghandi in its statement that we must be the change we seek in the world," said Ramonna Robinson, president of GFM. "We, too, believe in that concept wholeheartedly. Since its inception, GFM has been committed to giving back to the communities in which we live, work, pray and play. We are proud to play a role in fulfilling B Lab's vision of all businesses measuring and managing their impact as readily as they do profitability within a generation's time."
