Discussions on the Hot Topics of Our Times with Opinion Leaders, including CYRUS AMIR-MOKRI, LEYMAH GBOWEE, SENATOR KIRSTEN GILLIBRAND, PAUL GOLDBERGER, EMIL HENRY, KATI MARTON, JOE NOCERA, FRANCIS V. O'CONNOR, and DINA POWELL

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y., July 10, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Guild Hall of East Hampton (June 12) – The Hamptons Institute returns with a weekend symposium consisting of five (5) sessions over Saturday and Sunday, July 21 and 22.  Conversations feature prominent commentators and thought leaders on a diverse range of topical issues, including the economy, global women's rights, urban development, politics, and authenticating art. All events are presented by Guild Hall in collaboration with the Roosevelt Institute.

The symposium kicks off with "Perspectives on New York as a 21st Century City" with Paul Goldberger, Pulitzer Prize-winning architecture critic and writer for Vanity Fair, moderating a panel with Robert Hammond, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Friends of the High Line; Leslie Koch, President of The Trust for Governors Island; Joe Rose, Partner of the Georgetown Group and former Chairman of the New York City Planning Commission and Director of the Department of City Planning under Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani.  "2012 Politics and Policy Scorecard:  A Bipartisan Conversation" features Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and a Republican colleague discussing the "state of play" of the 2012 election and opportunities for bipartisanship.
