Gummy Bear Brand Gets Wired With Sakar's New Licensed Electronics

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sakar International is electrifying the Gummy Bear brand for the first time with a new line of Gummy-textured electronics to be produced under a licensing agreement with Street Players Holding Corporation. All products, from molded bear-shaped earbuds to bear-adorned phone and gaming cases, will simulate the pliable feel and vibrant color palette of the popular gel candies.

In the molded category, the line will include MP3 players, walkie talkies and digital photo frames as well as the earbuds replicating the Gummy Bear shape. Other SKUs will range from a digital camera with the same translucent look as the candies to an Apple iPhone case and a Nintendo DSi cover packaged with a molded game stylus again reproducing the familiar Gummy Bear form in 3D.

The license marks the latest chapter in a 15-month-old campaign by Street Players to extend the Gummy Bears brand beyond candy. Other licensed products released to date include plush toys, t-shirts, jewelry, pajamas, bedding and handbags.

"Gummy Bears are a touchstone for tweens and teens. They are literally the kid-in-the-candy-store product: everyone is drawn to them," said Liza Abrams, Sakar Vice President of Licensing. Product prototypes are being shown at Booth #9841, Central Hall at the 2011 International CES show that opens today in Las Vegas. The line is scheduled for Q1 2011 release in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the UK.

Separately today, Sakar also announced a licensing agreements with Mattel Inc. for youth electronics related to the toy company's new Monster High property.

Sakar's licensing portfolio also includes other top-tier brands such as Kodak, Made for iPod, Crayola, LeapFrog, Sanrio's Hello Kitty, The Biggest Loser, The Weather Channel, Iron Man 2, Batman, EA SPORTS and multiple Nickelodeon properties including iCarly and SpongeBob SquarePants.
