HAEVN Launches Meetup Spots, Connecting Matches With Local Places to Meet
The new program recommends local coffee shops, restaurants, bars and activity venues to compatible singles at the moment they're deciding where to meet.
TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Dating services have traditionally focused on helping people answer one big question: Who should I meet? But once two people decide they're interested in each other, another question quickly follows: Where should we go?
HAEVN wants to answer both.
The city-by-city matching network has launched HAEVN Meetup Spots, a local recommendation network that connects compatible singles with coffee shops, restaurants, bars and activity venues when they're deciding where to meet.
HAEVN has already answered who. Now it wants to help answer where.
For HAEVN, the idea grew out of a simple realization: making an introduction is only part of making a connection.
"It's not so much that we care where they go. It's that we care that they go," said Rik Foote, founder of HAEVN. "Making a match and leaving two people to figure everything else out feels like stopping one step too early. If we know what they enjoy, where they are and which local places make sense for them, helping answer 'Where should we meet?' is part of the matchmaking experience."
Meetup Spots launches initially in Tampa, Florida, and Austin, Texas, with additional markets planned as HAEVN expands its city-by-city matching network.
From who to where
HAEVN positions itself between dating apps and traditional matchmaking, using technology to provide some of the curated experience of a matchmaker at a significantly larger scale.
Every Monday, HAEVN's Match Monday system searches its growing network for compatible people who meet each member's relationship criteria and geographic preferences.
When HAEVN finds a match, members see their compatibility, why HAEVN believes they align and, when they're ready to meet, four local recommendations:
Coffee. Food. Drinks. Activity.
The recommendations are selected using information HAEVN already has about the two people, including their locations and date preferences. The goal is to provide options that fit the couple while finding reasonable geographic middle ground whenever possible.
Meetup Spots also remain available after the initial match.
Members can browse participating locations through the HAEVN Meetup Spot directory, organized geographically, or access recommended locations directly from a conversation with a match. A location control inside HAEVN messaging allows either person to pull up the four recommendations, review information including location and distance, and share a Meetup Spot directly into the conversation.
The result is designed to remove one more piece of friction between matching and meeting.
"A traditional matchmaker doesn't just identify someone who might be right for you and consider the job finished," Foote said. "We're trying to bring more of that high-touch experience to everyday people using technology. Sometimes that means doing something as simple as making it easier to answer, 'Where should we go?'"
Not an ad. A recommendation.
For local businesses, Meetup Spots creates a different kind of customer-acquisition opportunity.
Participating businesses pay $99 per month to join the local Meetup Spot network, with a three-month initial commitment. HAEVN guarantees at least 10 recommendations per month. If a business receives fewer than 10, its next month is free.
There is no cap on additional recommendations.
HAEVN defines one recommendation as one placement within a Match or Recommendation. Both people involved in that introduction see the same Meetup Spot.
The company deliberately distinguishes the model from traditional digital advertising.
"Most local advertising tries to predict when someone might become a customer," Foote said. "We already know the moment. Two people have matched, they're considering meeting, and they're deciding where to go. That's when a Meetup Spot appears."
There are no bids for placement, no pay-per-click fees and no option for a business to pay more to outrank another Meetup Spot.
Instead, HAEVN determines which locations to recommend based on factors including geography, member preferences and suitability for the type of date.
"An ad asks for attention," Foote said. "A recommendation answers a question. We're putting a local business in front of two people at the moment they're already asking, 'Where should we meet?' That's a very different interaction."
The right place at the right time
HAEVN organizes participating businesses into local Meetup Zones, geographic areas designed around how members actually move through a city.
In a market such as Tampa Bay, that can mean distinct clusters around Downtown Tampa, South Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater and other areas.
The system can then recommend places that make logistical sense for the two people involved rather than simply promoting the closest participating business.
That can also expose members to businesses outside their normal routines.
Two people living in different parts of a metro area may find that their most convenient meeting point is a neighborhood neither typically visits. A Meetup Spot in that area gets introduced to potential customers who may otherwise never have considered it.
HAEVN screens participating businesses for basic standards including safety, cleanliness and suitability for dates while intentionally maintaining variety across price points, atmospheres and experiences.
"We don't want every Meetup Spot to feel the same because our members aren't the same," Foote said. "The goal is to have enough variety that we can recommend somewhere that makes sense for the people involved, not simply somewhere that paid to be there."
Connecting the dating economy with local business
Meetup Spots reflects a broader part of HAEVN's strategy: connecting the infrastructure around dating rather than treating matching as an isolated digital activity.
A successful introduction eventually moves offline.
People meet for coffee. They have drinks. They eat dinner. They visit museums, comedy clubs, entertainment venues and other local businesses.
HAEVN wants the businesses that participate in that activity to become part of its matching ecosystem.
"We're absolutely trying to connect the dating economy with local businesses," Foote said. "We're a city-by-city network. If we're helping people form relationships in a community, it makes sense for the places where those relationships actually begin to be part of that network too."
The program is designed to complement rather than replace businesses' existing advertising and marketing.
HAEVN does not currently attempt to attribute a recommendation to an eventual purchase or visit. Participating businesses receive reporting showing how frequently HAEVN recommended their location, while the $99 monthly price reflects the program's role as an additional local customer-acquisition and awareness channel rather than a replacement for a business's broader marketing strategy.
Even recommendations that don't result in an immediate visit can introduce a business to two local consumers through a trusted recommendation at a relevant moment.
Part of a larger connection network
Meetup Spots is one component of HAEVN's broader effort to build infrastructure around intentional dating and real-world connection.
The company also recently launched Goose, its real-time compatibility platform for independent singles-event producers. Goose allows guests at in-person singles events to privately check their compatibility with someone who catches their attention.
Together, the products extend HAEVN beyond simply generating digital matches.
Event producers can help people meet in person. Goose can add compatibility intelligence to those encounters. HAEVN can continue finding compatible introductions through Match Monday. And Meetup Spots can help those matches decide where to meet.
The company also works with brands and event partners to create real-world experiences, with participating Meetup Spots positioned to become preferred locations for those opportunities when appropriate.
HAEVN expects the Meetup Spot network ultimately to include thousands of local businesses as the company expands into additional U.S. markets.
But Foote said the underlying objective is simpler.
"Our business is human connection," he said. "Technology can help identify the right person. Local businesses provide the places where something real can actually begin. We think those two things belong together."
