WASHINGTON, Aug. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Halcyon, the recently launched 501c3 dedicated to the power of human creativity to address complex problems and promote social good, announces the appointment of Josh Mandell to the newly established role of Director of International Policy and Programs.
Josh Mandell will serve as Director of International Policy and Programs at Halcyon. This is a completely new role for the organization that will seek new ways for Halcyon Incubator to support a greater number of the world's most promising social entrepreneurs. Mandell will also serve as the director of Halcyon Dialogue, a program convening experts to address some of the most pressing 21st century challenges and provide practical, actionable recommendations to policymakers and leaders of other sectors.
In his former position advising Halcyon Incubator, Mandell worked to identify opportunities for expanding the Halcyon model internationally. These activities included the creation of mechanisms designed to meet the growing demand for supporting social enterprise around the world. His new position as Director of International Policy and Programs will allow Halcyon to expand its global impact and share its knowledge to create social enterprise ecosystems in the regions that need it most.

Prior to his work at Halcyon, Josh served in the Obama Administration as the Senior Adviser for Innovation and Competitiveness at the U.S. Department of Commerce where he was responsible for the development and execution of policies and programs to support economic growth through innovation and entrepreneurship.
Josh also served as the Science and Technology Program Officer at The World Bank where he focused on building science, technology and innovation capacity in many countries and regions. This work included building a knowledge workforce, driving technology commercialization and entrepreneurship, strengthening science and innovation policy and supporting inclusive innovations, which solved problems for emerging economies. Mr. Mandell also served as the Senior Fellow at the Institute on Science for Global Policy at the University of California and the Senior Science and Technology Adviser at the British Embassy in Washington, DC.
