Hammes celebrates ribbon-cutting of Moffitt Discovery and Innovation Center at Speros

MILWAUKEE, Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Hammes, a national real estate consulting, development, investment and management firm, celebrated the ribbon-cutting of the Moffitt Discovery and Innovation Center at Speros in Land O' Lakes, Florida on October 22. Hammes served as the project manager for the 250,000-square-foot research facility that expands Moffitt Cancer Center's research capabilities within its new research and life sciences campus.

The Discovery and Innovation Center was designed to support collaboration across research disciplines and help move promising scientific discoveries toward new cancer treatments. The facility includes flexible laboratory environments, shared technology and equipment spaces, collaborative areas, and specialized capabilities supporting tumor biology, drug discovery, chemistry, bioengineering and cancer metabolism. It is expected to house 20 faculty laboratories and approximately 250 research personnel by the end of 2026.

The Discovery and Innovation Center is located near the 120,000-square-foot Moffitt at Speros Outpatient Center, which includes the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Proton Center. Hammes also provided project management services for these facilities, which opened earlier this year.
