Funding will accelerate product innovation, go-to-market expansion, and the continued advancement of HAL, context-aware manufacturing AI delivered directly to the point of production.
AKRON, Ohio and NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Harmoni, the Factory Orchestration platform for manufacturers, today announced that it has raised $10 million in Series A funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The company also unveiled HAL, its breakthrough artificial intelligence technology built to bring context-aware intelligence directly to the front lines of manufacturing.
Founded in 2023 by David Caputo and Adam Ellis, Harmoni was created to address a fundamental gap in factory technology. U.S. manufacturers are projected to need as many as 3.8 million additional workers by 2033, with nearly half of those positions at risk of going unfilled, as pressure compounds from rising costs, reshoring initiatives, and increasingly complex production environments.
Traditional automation excels at highly repetitive physical tasks, but much of manufacturing still involves variable work, frequent changeovers, and complex coordination among people, machines, and systems. Despite heavy investment in ERP systems, machine connectivity, and automation, factory-floor execution remains fragmented across disconnected systems, manual processes, and outdated workflows.
Harmoni orchestrates work across the factory floor, turning fragmented systems, information, and workflows into coordinated action. At each workcenter, it gives operators a unified command center including the information and tools to execute work correctly and efficiently, while connecting the people, machines, systems, and processes that drive production.
Designed for rapid implementation, Harmoni deploys in weeks and delivers measurable value: less manual work, stronger adherence to approved engineering processes, and real-time visibility into factory performance. Customer results show Harmoni's automations add more than 200 hours of productive time per operator per year by eliminating administrative and other non-productive tasks.
Built on three pillars: automation, process control, and observability, Harmoni uses RFID technology and machine-level workflows to automate non-productive work like labor tracking, ERP transactions, document retrieval, quality reporting, and support requests. Its process control layer ensures operators always have the correct documentation - work instructions, machine programs, checksheets, reducing errors and improving quality. Its observability layer integrates ERP, machine, operator, and RFID data into a real-time view of performance and root-cause issues.
HAL builds on this foundation, applying AI to the live operational context Harmoni captures, including information historically scattered across systems, machines, engineering documents, production records, and institutional knowledge. Because Harmoni already understands the active job, part, machine, process, and engineering requirements, that context reaches HAL automatically. Delivered at the point of production, HAL turns it into relevant intelligence, helping teams understand requirements, diagnose issues, identify risks, and decide what to do next.
"Harmoni was founded on the belief that manufacturers don't need another disconnected application - they need a system that helps work happen correctly, efficiently, and in real time," said David Caputo, Co-Founder of Harmoni. "By bringing automation, process control, and observability together at the workcenter, we help manufacturers eliminate wasted time, prevent errors, and gain control over what is happening across the factory floor. This investment will allow us to accelerate the platform's development, expand our team, and bring Factory Orchestration to more manufacturers."
"Harmoni is building a new operational layer for manufacturing that connects people, machines, and systems across the factory floor," said Kent Bennett, Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners. "Customers are seeing meaningful value from the company's Factory Orchestration platform today, while the operational context Harmoni creates provides a powerful foundation for delivering AI directly into production workflows. We are excited to partner with David, Adam, and the Harmoni team as they build an important new category in manufacturing technology."
