Healtheo360 and Visus Technology Form Partnership to Connect Chronically Ill Patients to Novel Medical Research and Clinical Trials

NEW YORK, March 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Healtheo360®, a social media platform for people with chronic health and rare health conditions, and Visus Technology, Inc., which created a hands-free mobile health platform to enhance the quality of life of people with chronic illnesses, today announced the launch of a mobile social media platform to connect patients and caregivers dealing with chronic illness to critical health information, including details on novel medical research and clinical trial participation.

The new platform incorporates Healtheo360's video-sharing online community, which is like a members-only "YouTube for Health" with many extra features. The videos enable users to share their stories face-to-face.

The Visus VelaSense® mobile health platform incorporates accessibility to users, a cloud compute and storage system within the Verizon Cloud, and over thirty separate applications.

The goal of the partnership with Healtheo360 is to combine applications within the VelaSense® platform to benefit those suffering from chronic diseases. The VelaSense® platform connects wearables such as smart glasses, watches and rings under one interoperability user interface. For example, VelaSense within smart glasses can help Alzheimer's sufferers identify family and friends through facial recognition technology. Healtheo360's social media tools will also be integrated into the VelaSense mobile interface to provide immediate, hands-free access to clinical trial listings and other health information and support resources.

Healtheo360 and Visus will market the new platform to patients and caregivers affected by chronic illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease – a condition that has recently been the focus of Healtheo360's high-growth subscriber strategy. A newly-launched partnership between Healtheo360 and CaringKind, New York City's leading expert on Alzheimer's and dementia caregiving, provides Healtheo360 with high visibility among the 250,000 New York City residents diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia and their caregivers.  

The Visus deal leverages mobile technology to increase Healtheo360's access to the Alzheimer's community, which is traditionally difficult to recruit for clinical trials.
