HealthSouth Names Barb Jacobsmeyer As President, Central Region

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Aug. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- HealthSouth (NYSE:HLS) today announced the promotion of Barb Jacobsmeyer to president of the central region following the recent retirement of current Regional President Terry Maxhimer. Jacobsmeyer previously served as chief executive officer at The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis, a partnership of BJC Healthcare and HealthSouth and regional vice president for HealthSouth's central region.  The change will be effective September 1, 2012.  Maxhimer will assist in transition activities throughout the month of August.

Barb has made significant contributions during her tenure as chief executive officer of The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis and I am confident she will continue to provide outstanding leadership in her new role."

Jacobsmeyer joined HealthSouth in 2007. She brings more than 20 years of healthcare experience to the role of president of the central region for HealthSouth. Prior to joining HealthSouth, Barb served as chief operating officer for Des Peres Hospital which is part of the Tenet Health System. She received her bachelor's degree in physical therapy from St. Louis University and her master's degree in health services management from Webster University.
