SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Sept. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Pakistan is experiencing its worst floods in nearly five decades, as relentless monsoon rains, melting glaciers, and flash floods devastate the nation. Since June 26, more than 1.5 million people have been severely affected, with over 20 million at risk. At least 819 lives—including 203 children—have been lost, thousands injured, and more than 8,600 homes destroyed or damaged. Infrastructure has crumbled, with 238 bridges and 410 miles of roads swept away, while livestock vital to rural families has perished.
The disaster has stretched across nearly every region of the country. In Punjab, major cities including Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Kasur, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and more are underwater. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Sindh have also endured widespread flooding, while further devastation is expected downstream in Sindh and Balochistan.
In response, Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) has announced a $5 Million Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Package to deliver urgent aid and support long-term recovery. HHRD's Emergency Relief & Disaster Management teams are working around the clock to provide:
- Cooked meals, dry food, milk, and energy biscuits
- Clean drinking water and hygiene kits
- Urgent medical care through mobile camps
- Shelter provisions and rebuilding assistance
To date, HHRD has already served more than 51,000 flood-affected individuals, and relief efforts continue to expand daily.
"Pakistan is facing a humanitarian catastrophe of historic proportions," said Javaid Siddiqi, CEO HHRD. "Our $5 Million intervention is a lifeline, but the growing scale of this tragedy demands urgent global solidarity."
