HIFU Prostate Services Partners with Urology Specialists of the Carolinas and Carolina Urology Partners to Make High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for Prostate Cancer Available in the Carolinas
Dr. Samuel Peretsman, with nearly 10 years HIFU experience, named medical director for partnership
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- HIFU Prostate Services, LLC, a leading provider of minimally-invasive prostate cancer treatment using High Intensity Focused Ultrasound ("HIFU"), announces a partnership with Urology Specialists of the Carolinas ("USOC") and Carolina Urology Partners ("CUP"). These two large urology practices include more than 50 urologists combined and service offices from Columbia, SC to north of Charlotte. The partnership will give physicians and their patients access to Sonablate HIFU technology for non-invasive prostate cancer treatment at a surgery center in Huntersville, NC.
Dr. Samuel J. Peretsman, one of the most experienced HIFU physicians in the country, will serve as the medical director of the partnership and will train all new HIFU users as a proctor. Approximately 10 other physicians within the partnership also have experience treating or working with HIFU patients.
Peretsman, a board-certified urologist that has performed over 2,800 surgical prostatectomies, has treated several hundred prostate cancer patients with Sonablate HIFU over the past 10 years. He also has been integral in training new HIFU users

Peretsman completed his urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He located to Charlotte in 1995 after 5 years serving as the urologic oncologist for the US Air Force Medical Corps. In Charlotte he has been instrumental in developing early programs for prostate cancer service lines including cryoablation, brachytherapy and robotic prostatectomy.
