CHICAGO, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Hiperbaric will present its range of Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) equipment at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2026, held September 14 to 19 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The company will be at Booth 236028 in the North Building, Level 3, where it will display sample components produced by HIP customers and meet with manufacturers evaluating the process for cast and additively manufactured parts.
HIP applies high pressure and high temperature to a component at the same time, closing the internal porosity and micro-defects left by casting and by powder-bed additive processes. Hiperbaric's presses operate at pressures up to 207 MPa (30,000 psi), with maximum temperature set by furnace type: 2,000 °C (3,632 °F) with a graphite furnace and 1,400 °C (2,552 °F) with molybdenum. Metallic parts leave the cycle at full theoretical density, with measurable gains in fatigue life, ductility, and impact strength. Some ceramic components can retain minor residual porosity. For additively manufactured parts, HIP is the step that brings mechanical performance in line with forged material.

A HIP Range from Materials Qualification to Serial Production
Hiperbaric builds HIP systems across a range of hot zone sizes. The HIP 38 offers a 380 mm (14.96 in) hot zone diameter and 850 mm (33.46 in) usable height. Its size and performance make it suitable for installation in companies with medium production capacities. The HIP 107 offers a 1,075 mm (42.3 in) diameter and 2,670 mm (105.1 in) height for serial production runs. Both operate at 207 MPa (30,000 psi) and reach 1,400 °C with a molybdenum furnace or 2,000 °C with graphite.
Across the range, the presses share a control architecture built to hold cycle parameters repeatable from first qualification runs through production, and a vessel and furnace design aimed at reducing energy consumption per cycle. Specialists from the company's HIP team will walk visitors through configurations, cycle times, and installation requirements at the booth.
Applications and Qualification
Aerospace manufacturers apply HIP to nickel superalloys, titanium alloys, and other high-performance alloys used in engine components and structures. Medical manufacturers use it on implants and prosthetics, where density and fatigue behavior govern service life. Further applications include gas turbine components for the energy sector, high-load automotive parts, and tooling and dies, where HIP extends time between replacements. Components representing several of these applications will be shown at the stand.
Producers qualifying HIP as a heat treatment operation work under AMS 2750 pyrometry requirements and, for aerospace supply chains, Nadcap AC7102/6 audit criteria. Hiperbaric designs the instrumentation, temperature uniformity, and control systems on its HIP equipment to support customers working toward those requirements.
Hiperbaric also builds Cold Isostatic Pressing (CIP) equipment. CIP applies uniform hydrostatic pressure at room temperature, from 100 to 600 MPa (14,500 to 87,000 psi), compacting metallic or ceramic powders in an elastomeric mold into near-net-shape green parts at up to 95% of theoretical density before sintering.
