Two FCA US LLC vehicles were recognized within their segments as Autos de Hoy® (Autos of Today) during the sixth annual Hispanic Motor Press Awards® (HMPA) on Thursday, November 19, at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The 2016 Jeep® Renegade stood out among the "SUV Compact" segment and the 2016 Ram 3500 won in the "Heavy Duty Pickup" segment.
A committee of 16 Hispanic automotive journalists and influencers test drove approximately 100 vehicles for the 2016 HMPA Autos De Hoy. The jurors seek to find the single model in each category that is the best value in the market for Hispanic families. All facets of the vehicles are evaluated, including design, comfort, safety, economy, handling, performance, functionality, environmental requirements, driver satisfaction and value.
Eligible vehicles considered for the awards must be all-new models and available to consumers in all 50 of the United States.
"The committee had a very tough time selecting this year's Autos de Hoy," said judge director Ricardo Rodriguez-Long. "Still, the on- and off-road driving dynamics of the Jeep Renegade and the best-in-class hauling capability of the Ram 3500 each stood out as a great vehicle option for Hispanic families in the United States."
