Hitachi Consulting Selects SAP(R) Carbon Impact On-Demand Solution to Support Environmental Vision

WALLDORF, Germany, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Hitachi Consulting, the business and IT consulting company of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), has signed an agreement to use the SAP® Carbon Impact on-demand solution from SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) to help measure and manage its carbon footprint reduction efforts. Hitachi, Ltd. has stated long-term environmental targets of becoming emission-neutral as a company by 2015 ("Vision 2015") and helping to reduce global CO2 emissions in general by 100 million tons annually by 2025 ("Vision 2025") through manufacturing efficiencies and more efficient use of Hitachi products.

Hitachi Consulting will use SAP Carbon Impact to establish and report on its carbon emissions inventory, plan and manage strategic carbon reduction initiatives, and analyze and communicate results. The company will also develop a set of best practices for SAP Carbon Impact and determine a deployment methodology that can be implemented by other Hitachi divisions and clients.
