Homes for Our Troops to Host Three-Day Build Brigade to Start New Home in Loudoun County for Severely Injured Veteran

PURCELLVILLE, Va., June 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Homes for Our Troops (www.homesforourtroops.org), a national non-profit organization dedicated to building specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans, will hold a three-day build brigade in Purcellville, VA, on June 29 – July 1, to begin construction of a home for Marine Lance Corporal Michael Martinez.

The Build Brigade begins with a ceremony Friday, June 29 at 8:30 a.m. Following the opening event, volunteers will work together to raise the home's first wall. The goal of the three-day build is to frame, side, and roof the house and install windows and doors.  Interior and finishing work will be completed in the following months. The home will provide Martinez with maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.

Marine Lance Corporal Michael Martinez was 5 months into his first deployment when he lost both of his legs in an IED blast in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on March 11, 2010. He looks forward to recovering in a home built to accommodate his needs, providing him with more freedom and independence.
