Hondros College Announces First Student Ambassador For RN-to-BSN Program

WESTERVILLE, Ohio, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Hondros College formally announced today the first RN-to-BSN student ambassador, Michelle Perry, a second-term student at Hondros College and long-term-care nurse from Arcanum, Ohio.

Derived from existing Hondros College programs, the RN-to-BSN ambassador program recently appointed its first student ambassador to incorporate student representation and engagement into the year-old nursing program.

"As a liaison for their classmates, ambassadors work closely with faculty and administration to impact policies and change throughout the organization," said Duke Cooper, campus director. "Michelle was nominated for the role because of her academic excellence, positive attitude and inquisitive nature. She communicates clearly in an online environment in a productive and positive way, keeping students on their toes."

In this role, Michelle is an advocate for the college and the RN-to-BSN program, serving as a key contact to students in the course of study, facilitating peer tutoring, developing campus events and serving as a liaison between students and faculty.

"As a student ambassador, I work closely with the campus director and faculty to ensure the program runs smoothly from the standpoint of the students," said Perry. "I act as the voice for the nursing students, and I'm able to help my peers succeed in this program by providing their insight and feedback to the administration to encourage improvement."

Founded on the ideal of encouraging working adults to pursue continued education, the college prides itself in the flexibility it offers. 

"It works really well for full-time, working students. You have the ability to get online to your classroom when it's convenient for you – day or night," Perry stated. "With a husband, three children and a full-time job, the last thing I want to do is sit in a classroom for hours. Hondros College hopes to add student advisors to the program in the next year to assist Michelle and further student involvement in the RN-to-BSN program.
