Houghton College joins the RENEW it NOW NY program

BOSTON, Oct. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Renew Energy Partners, a firm that funds, owns and operates energy efficiency and on-site clean energy projects for commercial and institutional building owners, announced today the start of construction for energy efficient LED Lighting upgrades for Houghton College. Houghton College is a Christian liberal arts college in Houghton, NY. JACOMB Lighting, a Rochester, NY based LED lighting firm will be providing the turnkey implementation of this project.

The RENEW it Now NY Program is RENEW Energy Partners' energy finance program for NY commercial, industrial and institutional energy users. By participating in the RENEW it Now NY program, Houghton College will receive the LED Lighting upgrades at no up-front cost.  Renew is funding, will own and operate the energy conservation measures in exchange for a service fee less than the savings generated. Houghton College not only receives lighting upgrades but will also see an immediate reduction to their operating budget.

"We were looking for opportunities to both save on our operating expenses and reduce our environmental impact at the same time," said Dale Wright, the College's VP for Finance. "The JACOMB and RENEW team helped us find the perfect solution to achieve both with no demands on our capital budget.  Additionally, the Agreement is flexible enough that other projects can be evaluated and added at a later date."

The JACOMB team provided the initial lighting survey and worked with Houghton College's facilities team to determine the best LED design for each space. "Our interests are aligned with Houghton College in that together we are focused on cost-effective, optimal performance of new LED lighting that we are standing behind for the next decade. The ESA model works well first and foremost for Houghton College, but it also works for our business, and additional service providers with solutions of value," said Bill Gauthier, President of JACOMB Lighting. Under the terms of RENEW's Energy Service Agreement ("ESA"), RENEW funds the installation and is responsible for the ongoing service of the LED lights for the term of the agreement.
