HR Ratings expands scope of international operations with SEC registration for corporate and financial institution ratings in the United States

MEXICO CITY, Nov. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has recognized HR Ratings S.A. de C.V. (HR Ratings) as a Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organization (NRSRO) for corporate and financial institution ratings. This recognition is in addition to other rating agency authorizations previously received by HR Ratings, including the European Securities and Market Authority (ESMA) certificate (2014); the SEC NRSRO registration to rate government securities (2012), as well as the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (CNBV) license (Mexico, 2007).

With this latest registration, HR Ratings can expand the services it provides its clients as its ratings for corporate and financial institutions, pesos or USD denominated, will now be issues as NRSRO ratings in the U.S. "This authorization marks the beginning of a new and important period of growth for HR Ratings, as we consolidate several years of professional services based on our fundamental values of transparency, quality service, integrity, punctuality, honesty, responsibility, trust and innovation" said Alberto Ramos, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

On November 23^rd, the SEC published the authorization on its official website which can be found at: https://www.sec.gov/rules/other/2016/34-79382.pdf.  With this authorization, HR Ratings becomes the first Latin American credit rating agency, and one of only nine agencies worldwide, to be registered by the SEC to provide ratings for these asset classes.
