"I Love CUB" Photo Contest Gives Illinoisans Opportunity To Show Off Hometowns For Chance To Win $300
CHICAGO, Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In honor of the Citizen Utility Board's 30th Anniversary, the watchdog organization is hosting an "I Love CUB" photo contest to give Illinois consumers the opportunity to show off their communities and win $300.
"Over the past three decades, CUB has travelled across Illinois to save consumers money," CUB Executive Director David Kolata said. "And one of the perks of this job is we get to see the special places that make Illinois a great place to live. This contest is simply a way to say 'thank you' to our supporters from Cairo to Chicago."
To participate, Illinois residents must take a photo of themselves or loved ones while incorporating some aspect of their community—such as a town sign, landmark, natural wonder, or roadside attraction. Participants then can either:
- Email the photo to [email protected] (Subject Line: "I Love CUB"), or
- Mail to I Love CUB Photo Contest, Citizens Utility Board, 309 W. Washington St., Ste 800, Chicago, IL 60606.
Entries must be postmarked by Oct. 1. The entrant whose picture best represents love for his or her community—and CUB—will win $300 towards their utility bills.
CUB will post photos on its website and social media. As an added bonus, participants can upload their photos to their social media accounts with hashtag #CUBLove for a chance to win three light bulbs with $200 money-saving potential.
CUB, Illinois' leading nonprofit utility watchdog organization, is celebrating its 30th Anniversary. Created by the Illinois Legislature, CUB opened its doors in 1984 to represent the interests of residential and small-business utility customers. Since then, CUB has saved consumers more than $10 billion by helping to block rate hikes and secure refunds over the years. For more information, call CUB's Consumer Hotline at 1-800-669-5556 or visit CUB's award-winning website, www.CitizensUtilityBoard.org.
