iCapital® Network Hires Thomas Fortin as Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK, April 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- iCapital Network, a financial technology platform focused on democratizing access to alternative investments for high-net-worth investors and their financial advisors, announced today the appointment of Thomas (Tom) Fortin as Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Mr. Fortin will report to iCapital Network's Chief Executive Officer, Lawrence Calcano, and be responsible for technology development and the investor services group.

Mr. Fortin joins iCapital from BlackRock, where he was Head of Retail Technology in the BlackRock Solutions group and responsible for the strategy, design, and development of retail sales enablement and digital distribution solutions. He also drove the successful acquisition of FutureAdvisor.

In his previous role, Mr. Fortin was a member of BlackRock's Global Operating and Corporate Risk Management Committees. Mr. Fortin was formerly BlackRock's Chief Information Officer and led the Aladdin development team from 2002 to 2011. Additionally, Mr. Fortin was responsible for the post-acquisition enterprise integrations with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Barclays Global Investors.

Prior to joining BlackRock in 2001, Mr. Fortin spent ten years with Wall Street Systems in the development and implementation of a front-to-back fixed income and FX trading system for global financial institutions. Through a joint engineering program, Mr. Fortin earned a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University and a BS degree in Engineering from Providence College, and an MBA degree in Finance from New York University.
