ICMA-RC Employees Run to Honor Fallen Police Officers and Recognize Public Servants

WASHINGTON, May 20, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ICMA-RC, a financial services corporation that exclusively serves the public sector, sponsored and participated in two 5K events on May 9 and May 10 in support of employees in public service: the National Police Week 5K and Public Service 5K. More than 70 ICMA-RC associates showed their support by running, walking, and cheering on the athletes. 

On Saturday, May 9, ICMA-RC associates ran in the National Police Week 5K in honor of fallen officers across the country. More than 170 officers have died in the line of duty over the past two years, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page, the event host and founder. Altogether, more than 1,700 athletes participated in the event, which began and ended at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The following day, May 10, ICMA-RC participated in the Public Service 5K, a race to show support and appreciation for our country's dedicated public servants. The event took place at Anacostia Park in Washington, D.C.
