WASHINGTON, March 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- At the March 2011 Pensions & Investments East Coast Defined Contribution Conference, ICMA-RC received a first place Eddy Award for www.thedreambigsite.org, a financial education website for public sector employees. The Eddy Awards, sponsored by P&I Magazine since 1995, identify and reward best practices in providing investment education to defined contribution plan participants. Judges include representatives from P&I and some of the largest retirement plan providers in the United States.
The judges stated that ICMA-RC's Dream Big site "cleverly used multiple channels of social media to reach out to younger participants, including Facebook, Twitter, a smart-phone application and a website called 'Dream Big,' where visitors were invited to share their G-rated dreams ('a helicopter to skip the traffic' and 'vacations and cruises')."
This is the third national award that the Dream Big Site has received since its launch in 2010. The site has also received a Web Marketing Association Standard of Excellence Award, as well as a Mutual Fund Education Alliance Star Award. Since launching the Dream Big Site last year, on average, more than a 1,000 visitors have gone to the site weekly online or through their mobile phone. While visiting the Dream Big Site they have tried the easy-to-use calculators, shared their saving dreams or read the ongoing saving oriented blogs.
"I am proud that in working to serve our clients we have received the Eddy Award for Dream Big, in addition to the more than 50 awards and recognition our communication and education programs have received since 2007," Joan McCallen, President and CEO of ICMA-RC, said. "We look forward to continuing to provide educational resources to inspire participants through all communications channels, including social media."
