CHICAGO, Dec. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Illinois Council on Responsible Fatherhood (ICRF) is hosting its annual symposium on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Oak Park Library, 834 Lake Street, Oak Park, IL.
This free symposium will focus on critical issues facing unwed and divorced fathers. The council's mission is to increase the number of children in Illinois growing up with a responsible father in their lives.
Governor-appointed Chairman Jeffery M. Leving will host the symposium, which will include a series of presentations by professionals covering a wide range of fatherhood-related topics. There will be ample time for questions from the audience. Featured speakers include, but are not limited to, the following:
Family law attorney Maureen Gorman will lecture on the New Illinois Laws on Custody, Parenting Time and Child Support and How They Affect Fathers.
Reverend Walter Jones will lecture on Men Empowering Men.
ICRF councilmember Lois Rakov will lecture on An Archive of Resources for Fathers.
Matrimonial attorney and Guardian ad Litem Arthur Kallow will lecture on Reunification of Fathers and Their Children.
The goal of the symposium—open to anyone—is to empower fathers and provide survival strategies for participants to take home.
The council is made up of experts from all facets of the professional world, each immensely dedicated to supporting single and divorced dads in Illinois.
Chairman Leving, attorney and author of How to Be a Good Divorced Dad, has spent his life making significant strides supporting paternal involvement. Leving is a pioneer in fathers' rights and social change, a renowned divorce attorney and co-author of the Illinois Joint Custody Law.
"The ICRF provides solutions to father absence by promoting positive paternal involvement and contributing resources to support all fathers in all communities," Leving said. "Present and involved fathers improve academic test scores, reduce teenage pregnancy, and encourage confidence in children."
