Immersion Wins Defense Comptroller's Award for Performance on DTS Integration
Navy Reserve First to Adopt Defense Travel System
ANNAPOLIS, Md., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Immersion Consulting, a provider of program management support to the Department of Defense (DoD), announced one of its customers has received today the ASN (FM&C) FM Process Improvement team award at the American Society of Military Comptrollers annual conference in Orlando, Fla.
The award recognizes Immersion's work with the Navy Reserve Forces' N33 (Force Travel) team, which is the first DoD reserve component to implement the Defense Travel System (DTS) Import/Export module.
The Navy Reserve Force accounts for 10 percent of all Navy travel, approximately 135,000 transactions each year. Moving from a labor-intensive, paper-based voucher process to a travel Enterprise Resource Planning System required integrating two independent systems, DTS and the Navy Reserve Order Writing System. In doing so, the team developed and validated new business processes, trained personnel and coordinated closely with external stakeholders to ensure compliance with DoD regulations.
CDR Mike Fox, director, Navy Reserve Force Travel, states, "Immersion is invaluable for their work behind the scenes. The employees are intelligent, proactive and steadfast enablers, moving the Navy Reserve toward full DTS Import/Export implementation."
In addition to streamlining the reimbursement process for Reservists, Immersion helped the N33 team realize other important benefits, including:
- Establishing a standard system used throughout the Navy Reserve and U.S. Navy enterprise, with broad utility to accommodate the travel requirements of all DoD Reserve components;
- Integrating with headquarters management information and financial information systems to allow quick assimilation with other DoD accounting systems; and
- Improving management control, financial stewardship and performance reporting.
"We are honored that our customer is being recognized for the great team effort," said Mary Ahern-Snyder, president of Immersion. "Reservists now get their out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed days after their vouchers are approved, instead of waiting weeks."
