Founded by Éric Giroux, RaySecur provides security solutions based on state-of-the-art optics technology designed to detect letter bombs (letters or small packages containing powders or liquids used for threats, intimidation, or terrorist attacks).
The problem of powder letter bombs
Letter bomb attacks have become increasingly common in recent years, and traditional technologies have proven to be ineffective deterrents. "X-ray inspection works well for larger packages, but the radiation levels are too high to detect powder in a letter, while terahertz technology can." notes RaySecur President and Founder Éric Giroux.
A simple, affordable detection solution
RaySecur offers a device using terahertz technology capable of detecting powder- and liquid-based letter bombs and thus preventing chemical, biological, radioactive, nuclear, and explosive attacks. Developed at INO, this revolutionary device produces real-time video images (versus the static images produced by X-ray devices).

The device is compact enough to be easy to use and easily deployed on a desk. "User-friendliness was one of our top priorities, because we believe technology should be a benefit to users, not an obstacle," he explains.

RaySecur is the 30th INO spinoff company, and the first under the aegis of the new Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program, a joint initiative implemented by INO, supported by Ville de Québec, and with the participation of Anges Québec.
