- Why Wanna-be Millionaires Would Quit the Bedroom to Make a Buck
Half of Brits would give up sex for a year to become a millionaire, it is revealed today.
The results of a new study into British attitudes to getting rich by InterCasino show that social networking-hooked Brits would be more willing to give up sex than to quit Facebook.
Forty nine percent of us would give up sex for a year to become a millionaire, while just a third (33 percent) would shut down their Facebook profile. Facebook reaches the 500 million user mark this week, with the average Brit spending one hour a day on the site.
The research by the online casino highlights the extreme lengths that men would go to in order to get their hands on cash, with nearly half (45 percent) of blokes admitting that they would sleep with a stranger to make a million, vs. just one in four (17 percent) of women.
A spokesperson for InterCasino commented: "In these cash-strapped times, many of us would go to great lengths for the chance to become millionaires.
"The nation's obsession with social networking, however, means that many of us would prefer to put our sex-lives on hold than risk missing out socially by quitting sites such as Facebook."
Of the 2000 Brits that were questioned, men were twice as likely as women to agree that they would stop at nothing to get their hands on some cash. Seventeen percent admitted that they would cheat on their partner to get rich, while just seven percent of women agreed that they'd put their relationship on the line for a millionaire's lifestyle.
Despite this determination to get rich, the research found that cash-conscious Brits would plump for a millionaire's lifestyle of beer, takeaways and bargains over champagne, antiques and private jets. Forty percent of us would keep things as they are if we became millionaires tomorrow, choosing an everyman's lifestyle over champagne, private jets and antiques.
The survey found that the UK's most popular male millionaire is Richard Branson, while most women would opt for JK Rowling's relatively modest lifestyle over the lavish existence favoured by Paris Hilton and Victoria Beckham.
The research was commissioned by InterCasino to celebrate the GBP1 million jackpot that is waiting to be won on the website's Millionaire's Club online slot game. InterCasino has previously awarded some of the largest jackpots in online casino history including a single jackpot win worth over GBP4 million. The most recent version of the Millionaire's Club slot game has two fantastic bonus rounds, rich animations, sounds and attention to detail.
